Wall Street Journal: A remarkable probiotic from Bulgaria
A Bulgarian company has created the world's first vegan probiotic that destroys pathogenic bacteria usually treated only with strong antibiotics.

So writes the most prestigious American newspaper, the "Wall Street Journal", which published an exclusive article about "ProViotic", created by a Bulgarian company.

The probiotic was called "remarkable" by Harvard microbiology professor Andrew Onderdonk because of its ability to destroy pathogenic bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Helicobacter pylori and Listeria. These are pathogens usually treated only with strong antibiotics.

The article presents the Bulgarian product that conquered Manhattan as a vegan probiotic in capsule and tablet form, and as a supplement for fresh juices.

The innovative probiotic – the newest strain Lactobacillus bulgaricus GLB44 – was created by a team of Bulgarian specialists and patented for the US market. It is unique in being a fully plant-based probiotic, extracted from a Bulgarian snowdrop and cultivated in organic carrot juice.

"ProViotic" contains no allergens, preservatives or GMOs.

The probiotic is an example of how a Bulgarian treasure – the yoghurt bacterium – can be turned into a globally successful product when Bulgarian scientists and companies work hand in hand.

The American article notes that in the US a pack of 30 "ProViotic" capsules sells for 40 US dollars. In Bulgaria the probiotic can be found in pharmacies for about 17 leva for 10 capsules.

This is the second positive article about a Bulgarian company published in the "Wall Street Journal", the first being about the technology company Telerik.
